On the road

 At last we could start with our much anticipated trip. After months of preparation the departure date finally arrived and it was obvious that everyone of us needed to leave. After all, how many times can you go to the shop to buy useless stuff which looks interesting at the time of your purchase but turns out to be a complete waist of money, luggage space and additional weight on the bike?

Anyway, so Saturday morning we were accompanied by our dearest friends and family at the AMC Yamaha motorbike shop in Stabroek (Antwerpen). Thanks again Terence and Vanessa for the delicious sandwiches and coffee ( and all the other support). After some emotional good-byes and a short interview on the Antwerp local television, we took off at 10 o'clock sharp.

The first few day we will ride with a total 8 people. Johan, Peter, Carl, Wim, Patrick, Paul, Fred and Mark. Together we will visit Berlin and Warsaw. After 2 nights our friend will ride back direction Belgium and we will be on our own.

The weather was perfect; dry, sunny and a cool 15dgrC. Cruising at a 140km/h over the Autobahn. It felt great to be finally on the road. The adventure awaits us.

Eindelijk was het dan zover, na maanden van voorbereiding was de vertrek datum gekomen. We hadden er lang naar uitgekeken en waren dus ongeduldig om te vertrekken.

Op zaterdag morgen waren onze beste vrienden en familie naar het AMC (Antwerps Motor Center in Stabroek) gekomen om ons uit te wuiven. Terence en Vanessa hadden heerlijke broodjes/koffiekoeken en koffie voorzien (dank daarvoor). Na een kort interview voor de locale televisie en een emotioneel afscheid, vetrokken we stipt om 10 uur.

De eerste 2 dagen zullen onze vrienden Mark, Paul, Patrick, Wim en Fred ons vergezellen. We rijden dus met 8 naar Berlijn en vervolgens naar Warschau. Na twee nachten keren onze vrienden terug richting België en zetten we onze tocht verder met 3.

Het weer was perfect (droog, zonnig en rond de 15°C). Eindelijk vertrokken, het avontuur tegemoet.
