Banzai for Dummies

BANZAI (万歳)literally means ten thousand years (for the emperor). It is written with the combination of the kanji characters for "ten thousand (万)" and "age (歳)"

Banzai is a Japanese cheer that can be translates as Long life! or Hurrah! It is usually repeated three times to express enthusiasm, celebrate a victory, applause and favor on happy occasion while raising both arms. It is commonly done together with the large group of people.

29 January, our dear friend Mat invited us to a Japanese restaurant at Sentosa Island, to celebrate my 41 Birthday (Yes Johan and Peter, it was my birthday…!). We had Kushiage which are Japanese deep-fried skewers. "Kushi" means skewers and "age" means deep-frying.

The Chef, originally from Osaka, was very impressed with our bike plans so he give us a Banzai cheer.

Hurrah, Hurrah, Hurrah....that Mat picked up the bill !!!

Dear Carl

Are Keiko's & Shio's family alright in Japan?
I heard about the news and I'm all worried.
Please tell them that I've asked.
